KING’S Lynn take an eight-point lead into the second leg of their Premiership play-off semi-final against Belle Vue at the Adrian Flux Arena tonight (Monday).
The Stars were sensational in the second half of last week’s opening clash in Manchester to turn a 16-26 deficit into a 49-41 lead, but the Aces themselves responded strongly with a big win at Swindon last Thursday in their last regular league fixture.
The hosts are at full strength whilst Craig Cook is still ruled out for the Aces, who operate rider-replacement, with Tobiasz Musielak coming in for Dan Bewley, and Coty Garcia replaces Mark Riss at reserve.
Stars promoter Keith Chapman said: “I want to say how proud I am to see smiles back on the faces of the people supporting King’s Lynn Speedway.
“This time last year it was all over for us but I was already plotting our next season and working out a strategy to get this great club back where it belongs.
“Naturally, I would love to go on to win the league and cup double. That would be some achievement. However, we have Belle Vue to deal with tonight and Somerset in the KO Cup Final. We will be taking nothing for granted.”
Aces skipper Max Fricke said: “We’ve definitely missed both Dan and Craig the last few weeks but I think it’s credit to the rest that we’ve got as far as we have, and we’re not out of it yet.
“We felt really good early doors last week. We were strong and it showed through the lead we managed to build up. But as the track started to get some dirt, it came to them at the end.
“It does leave us with work to do on Monday but nothing is guaranteed. As far as I’m concerned, the pressure’s off us. We go there with nothing to lose and everything to gain from this next leg.”
